A cloud server can be resized to a larger cloud server at any time via the Cloud Central control center. The resize operation allows the resources allocated to a server including CPU, RAM, and disk space to be increased when required.
After initiating the resize operation to a larger cloud server via the control center, the system will increase the amount of CPU, RAM, and extend the size of the second disk partition to a larger size, then reboot the server. All data on the second disk partition will be maintained in tact without loss of data.
Once the cloud server has been rebooted after the resize operation, you should then extend the size of your logical volume within the second disk partition via your operating systems native tools such as LVM for Linux servers, and the Disk Management tool for Windows Servers.
NOTE: Whilst resizing your server should not result in data loss, we always recommend taking a complete backup of all data contained on the secondary disk partition just in case. Networked Attached Storage (NAS) can be obtained for storing backup files and other data for the low cost of just $0.30 per GB per month.
