How to setup email in Outlook 2013 for Windows

1. Prerequisites

In case you have existing Outlook with broken config, will have to first manually remove the mis-configured account from Outlook first, and re-add it again.

Note: You will have to setup any team Calendars/SharePoint lists again. Please note down the configuration for these items.

Try these steps below to delete the account:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Mail > E-mail Accounts.
  2. Select the mail account you want to delete, and click Remove > Yes. After this, the email account should be deleted. Please refer to the picture below to perform the remove action.

Note: Don't worry about the warning message - You can proceed with the delete safely. The deletion only impacts the local Outlook on your laptop. Emails on your mailserver won't be affected.

2. Procedure for connecting to SmarterMail server:

To set up Outlook, do the following:

  1. Open up Outlook 2013 and click on the File tab.
  2. Click Add Account.
  3. Click the radio button next to Manual setup or additional server types.
  4. Click Next.
  5. When presented with the Choose Service screen, select or Exchange ActiveSync compatible service.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Enter following details
    • User: The username you use to login to the webinterface
    • Server: The domain that has been set up and provided by CloudCentral. Usually 'mail.<yourdomain>'
    • Password: <your password>
    • Be sure to use the full email address for the E-mail Address.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Outlook will automatically test your account settings. When the connection is successful you simply need to close the Test Account Settings pop up and your account is created!

Click Finish to complete the setup of your SmarterMail account in Outlook 2013.
