Sharing files and folders with WorkSync

Once you have installed and configured the WorkSync agent, you will be able to share selected files and folders with other users within your organization. This can be done by first synchronizing a selected folder and then selecting users who you wish to share it with.

In this example we will walk through sharing a folder named "Shared Folder" from the user account named Example, to another account called Testing.

  1. Find the file or folder that you want to share.

  2. Right click it, select CTERA Agent and then click on Sync this folder.

  3. Once you do this you should see a pop up message advising that this is in progress.

  4. When this completes you should see a confirmation message confirming that the folder has started syncing.

  5. If you refresh your window, you should now see the green tick icon on the folder which is a visual indicator that it is being synced. Any files or folders you create in here will also be synced automatically.

  6. Now that the folder is being synced you can share it, right click the folder, select CTERA Agent followed by "Invite team members..." which will open up a window in your web browser.

  7. If you are asked to log in to the window that opens up in your web browser, log in with your WorkSync credentials.

  8. Once logged in you will be presented with a window that allows you to select users to share with. Select the "..." button as highlighted below to display all users.

  9. Select the users that you want to share the folder with and click the Add button for each one. You can click the permission to give users read only access, read write or no permissions. Additionally you can also set the expiration which is how long the specified user has permission to access the share. Once you're done allowing users and defining access, click the Save button down the bottom right.

  10. The users that you have selected to share with should receive an email notifying them that you have shared a folder with them. There will be a link within the email providing access to the web portal where the folder is shared. The email will look similar to the one pictured below.
